Developmental Projects – General Guidelines: All developmental projects submitted for this course must follow APA guidelines as outlined in the 6th edition of the Publication manual of the American Psychological Association, 2010.  Your paper should include a cover sheet and a reference list including only the references you actually cited in the body of your paper. You do not need an abstract for this assignment; it is not a research paper. A copy of the APA manual is available in the library. The writing center can also offer assistance.  Your project should be at least 5-7 typed written pages (double-spaced) in length and should include at least 3 journal references in addition to your course textbooks. APA style dictates the use of 12-point typeface and margins of 1 inch for papers and manuscripts. You are expected to adhere to these guidelines. Use Times New Roman font.  These 3 references must be from professional journals or books written by professional authors. Such references might include: American Psychologist, Journal of Applied Psychology, The Handbook of Child Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Child Development, Scholarly Internet references, etc. Your paper may include references from your textbook,, other textbooks, lay Internet references, lecture notes, encyclopedias, and lay magazines (e.g. Newsweek, Time, Parents, and Psychology Today) but these must be in addition to your three professional references. You may only have one properly formatted and cited quote in your paper from your references. The quote may not exceed 3 sentences.  Write a 1 or 2 page introduction describe the show/movie. This description should be a brief objective synopsis.  In the body of your paper you should explain the show/movie from a developmental perspective using examples from the book or movie to support your writing. You will select a theorist or perspective that will guide your writing. You must make it clear which theorist or perspective you are using.  Include an analysis of at least one conflict, issue, dilemma, or crisis a character faced.  Include weaknesses of the theory or perspective. For example, were there important issues your theorist or developmental perspective failed to address or explain?  Summary – Include your overall impression of the show/movie and whether or not you would recommend the show/movie to a teenager. Explain your position.
